RCSOB Graduation Lineup and notes

Here's the lineup for the show  (Tuesday, November 29)
(PLEASE check your name and spelling, and reply to this email if I've misspelled anything)

Zora Opening Number and Introduction
1.  Saxon Le'Bitch
2.  Mamie Demure
3.  Lady Logic
4.  Jade Devine
5.  Rouletta Rae
6.  Sylvetta Spank
-intermission-
7.  Honeydew LeRoux performing as Lolita Von Honeydew
8.  Lascivious Lenore
9.  Penny Paperback
10.  Bitsy LaRue
11. Lily Noir

Call time is 7pm // I (Zora) will be at the venue at 6pm
Doors open at 8pm (I encourage you to have your guests come early to get good seating)
Show begins promptly at 9pm

What will happen is that I will open the show with a number, then welcome the audience and talk a little about the school, the classes and gush over how excited I am for you all.  Then I will introduce the first performer, exit the stage and allow them to shine.  Performer will shake, strip and shimmy and exit the stage.  I will then outro while stripper droppings are removed from the stage, then intro the next performer... glitter, rinse, repeat.

As Holly mentioned, you will need to be 'on deck' (dressed and ready) at the beginning of the performer's number ahead of you.  (i.e. person #4 needs to be dressed and ready at the end of #2, 'on deck' upstairs at the start of #3)

IF YOU HAVE SETUP - I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE THE SHOW.  What is setup?  The opposite of pickdown!   No, really - setup is anything we need to put on stage for your number:  chair, mic stand, microphone, dildo, whatever.

To familiarize you with what performance agreements look like in the professional realm, I have included this link:
http://bit.ly/u6Cs0k - normally within there would be a link to confirm your acceptance and understanding of the terms... this is just an example.

PS:  I feel like someone asked me to switch them around in the order... but I can't find an email/txt re it.  If that's you, reply.

Also:  If you didn't receive it for whatever reason, here's the FB link:

Note:  I'm sending this message to the FB group and to the emails I have on file... if you don't get two copies... there's a boo-boo somewhere.  Let me know.

WHEE! Excitement!

RCSOB: Notes from 11/01 class

Rose City School of Burlesque

Hi everyone!

Here are some notes from Make-up class last night:

We covered makeup: Make-up application tools, contouring, eyebrow accentuation/creation, eye shadows, lashes and purty lips

Some highlights:

  1. Make-up application tools:
    1. It's not necessary to buy expensive tools, but having good quality brushes will help in application and longevity of tool use
    2. Tools recommended:
      1. Kabuki brush, a large soft dome shaped brush for blending
      2. Angled powder brush, used for highlighting powders and blushes
      3. Thin Angle brush, used for cutting lines when applying eye shadows (and drawing eyebrows!)
      4. Domed shadow brushes, three sizes (S,M,L) for varying eye shadow coverage
  2. Contouring:
    1. Use a light foundation or highlighting powder to accentuate your features, remembering that light brings surfaces forward, while darker color recess them
    2. Using a dark(er) foundation/powder, you can de-emphasize your under cheekbones, temples, hairline or any other area you wish to draw attention away from
  3. Eyebrows:
    1. Using a pencil or brush body, find the natural lines that make up your brow, then draw over them to accentuate (or cover them with foundation, powder and glitter and make all new brows)
  4. Eyeshadows:
    1. Depending on your look/style, you will probably want to avoid dark in your eyelid crease – use areas of light and dark to accentuate and open your eyes
  5. Lashes:
    1. Use LashGrip™ when adhering full lashes to your eye, it stays and is specifically formulated for false eyelashes
    2. Lashes have shorter hairs on the edge that goes closest to your nose, they do come in left and right
    3. Remove the lash from the plastic, and draw a thin bead of glue on the lash edge with a tiny bit extra on each end's tip
    4. Wait 30-45 seconds to allow glue to become tacky
    5. Starting on the outside edge, match with your outermost natural lash (or near the edge of your eyelid)
    6. Work your way around to the inside of your eyelash
    7. The false eyelash will be just above your lash
  6. Lips
    1. Using a foundation/colorstick, you can highlight above your upper lip and then darken a bit under your lower lip to help make your lips appear fuller
    2. An easy way to apply longlasting lip color is to use a dark lip liner and a bright gloss
    3. Glitterlips:  Using gloss all over your lips then add fine, round glitters using the tip of fingers

RCSOB: Notes from 10/25 class

Hi everyone!

Here are some notes from class last night:

We covered hair:  real and not; setting, styling and creating

Some highlights:
  1. Using ceramic rollers, hot rollers allows you to create a variety of looks and if nothing else, gives you a great base with which to start
  2. Roll away from the face for most looks and styles
  3. Using plastic clips will avoid putting dents or wrinkles in your hair when rolling
  4. Using a teasing comb, you can split your hair into sections to make it easier to work with
  5. You can also split hair into smaller sections and, rolling around 2 fingers then rolling into a loop and clip using a flat duckbill clip
Wigs:
  1. It's nice to use wigs to avoid the work behind hair styling
  2. Wig caps are not required but might make it easier to hold back longer hair or to secure the wig to your head
  3. Bump up a wig top by putting old pantyhose, tulle or grocery bags in the cap before putting it on... whee!  Bouffant!
  4. Buy cheap wigs and play with them (then you aren't worried about destroying them)
NEXT WEEK:
Tuesday, November 1: Makeup for Photos & Stage
Please bring all the makeup you have, foundations etc. If you do not have a lot of make please do not go out and buy any yet, we will let you know what you should get for the stage.  The first hour will be focusing on photo makeup, lashes and colors and the second hour will be Meghan and Zora working together to  show you how to accentuate for the stage.
